Keeping Informed: Your MSU NetID and MSU E-mail Account
All students receive a Personal Identification number (PID) and a Personal Access Number (PAN) upon admission to the university. Your PID number is your student number. It is a nine (9) digit, alphanumeric sequence resembling A12 34 5678. These numbers are needed to activate your MSU NetID and MSU e-mail account. The PID and PAN are important identification numbers for MSU students and should be protected. In the event that you lose your PID or PAN, contact the Office admissions at +1 (517) 355-8332 or admis@msu.edu.
Establishing your MSU e-mail account is the next step in becoming a part of the MSU academic community. To activate your MSU NetID and MSU e-mail account, visit www.computing.msu.edu/students. It is very important that you activate your MSU NetID and MSU e-mail account as soon as possible so that you will be able to:
- Receive important notices from the University
- View your records online, and
- Access important campus resources, such as electronic library materials
In the future, your MSU NetID will allow you to enter www.stuinfo.msu.edu, where you will find secure information on your course enrollments, grades, and academic history.
Once your Enrollment Deposit has been received, information regarding your class schedule and student status will be sent to your MSU e-mail account and, for a limited time, to your personal e-mail account. Please read all materials that you receive. If there are changes in your mailing address or personal e-mail address, please contact the Office of Admissions (admis@msu.edu) so that your file may be updated. For further information on your MSU NetID, please see: http://lct.msu.edu/guidelines-policies/student-email-communications-notice.html.
