Tuition, Fees and Billing

A schedule of tuition and fees for the 2009-2010 academic year is provided further below on this page. At this time, only the Enrollment Deposit of AED 5,000 is due. Please use the enclosed form to submit your deposit and reserve your space in the entering class. You will receive the registration bill (invoice) by email directing you to www.stuinfo.msu.edu when your bill is available for you to view and print. Undergraduate tuition and fees for the 2009-2010 academic year at Michigan State University Dubai will be as follows:

Tuition

Students enrolling in 1-11 credit hours and paying their tuition in full at the beginning of the semester will be charged $660 per credit hour.  Students enrolling in 12 credits or more and paying their tuition in full at the beginning of the semester will be charged $7920 per semester.

For an additional fee, students wishing to make their tuition payments over the course of the semester may use the deferred payment plan by paying 50% of the total amount due by August 13, 2009, 25% of the total tuition amount due by October 1, 2009, and the remaining 25% of the total tuition amount due by November 1, 2009.  Students utilizing the deferred payment will be assessed a deferred payment fee of $150 in the October 1st payment.  A similar schedule is available for the Spring 2010 semester.

Sibling Tuition Discount: For families with more than one daughter/son enrolled simultaneously in MSU Dubai as full-time undergraduates in a degree program, a tuition discount of 10 percent is given to each sibling after the first.  If the first sibling drops below 12 credits or is dismissed from the university, the sibling tuition discount will be discontinued.  Students wishing to utilize the sibling tuition discount should indicate their intentions and the name(s) of their sibling(s) on the Enrollment Deposit Form. Sibling tuition discounts are awarded for the fall and spring semesters only. Students are not eligible for both the sibling discount and another scholarship.

Eligibility for Financial Aid: U.S. Citizens may apply for financial aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA, available on the Web at fafsa.ed.gov, is an application process provided free by the U.S. federal government. It is used to determine eligibility not only for U.S. federal grants and loans, but also for some state and university aid programs.  MSU's School Code is 002290. Enter this number on the FAFSA where indicated on the application.

Fees

In addition to the tuition amount, students at MSU Dubai will be assessed a student activities fee, a student residence visa fee (unless sponsored by their families), and a health insurance fee. These fees are described as follows:

Student Activities Fee: In addition to tuition, all undergraduate students at MSU Dubai will be assessed an Undergraduate Student Government Fee of $16.75 per semester.  A portion of this fee is used to provide activities directly to MSU Dubai students.  The remaining portion supports the overall services and activities of the Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU), the all-university undergraduate student government.

Student Residence Visa Fees: The Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) will sponsor MSU Dubai students requiring a student visa.  Fees are set by the government of Dubai and are subject to change.  The current fee schedule appears below.

Health Insurance Fee:  Private UAE health insurance coverage is required of all students enrolled at MSU Dubai.

  • MSU Dubai students, whose residence visa is sponsored by DIAC, must purchase the health insurance policy provided by MSU Dubai at an approximate cost of $440 (Admitted students receive the registration form in their admission packet).
  • Students, whose residence visa is not sponsored by MSU Dubai and who carry health insurance coverage, must provide MSU Dubai with a copy of a valid health insurance card.
  • Students, whose residence visa is not sponsored by MSU Dubai and who do not carry health insurance coverage, must purchase the health insurance policy provided by MSU Dubai.

2009-2010 Tuition and Fee Payment Schedule (Billing)

2 weeks from date of Admission - Enrollment Deposit of $1370 (AED 5,000) due from newly admitted undergraduate students. Payment methods include cash, personal check, credit cards, or wire transfer.
Saturday, July 25, 2009 - Initial Billing Statement Available through STUINFO. Admitted students access their accounts in STUINFO using their MSU Personal Identification Number. Emails will be sent to notify students and authorized guests when a new bill is available. No paper bills are sent. Late enrollment fee of $50 begins for continuing undergraduate students who have not yet enrolled for fall semester.
Thursday, August 13, 2009 - Initial minimum tuition and fee payment (50% of balance) due for Fall 2009. A $50 late registration fee will be assessed for all payments received after this date. Subsequent failure to pay at least the minimum amount due will result in disenrollment.
Wednesday, September 2, 2009 - Classes Begin. Late enrollment fee of $100 begins for first-time fall enrollees and returning students.
Sunday, September 27, 2009 - End of Tuition Refund Period. No refunds after this date.
Thursday, October 1, 2009 - Second tuition installment (25% of balance) due. The deferred payment fee of $150 will be applied to this bill.
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - Middle of semester. Last day for withdrawal or dropping courses with no grade reported. $200 late enrollment fee assessed after this date for first-time enrollees. Close of online drops for Fall.
November 1, 2009 - Third tuition installment (25% of balance) due.
Sunday, November 15, 2009 - Initial Billing Statement Available through STUINFO. Admitted students access their accounts in STUINFO using their MSU Personal Identification Number.
