Visa Requirements

Dubai International Academic City/Knowledge Village (DIAC/KV) sponsors residence visas for all students attending MSU Dubai. If you are a GCC National, you do not need a student visa to study full-time or part-time. Residency visas are required for all international students and men over the age of 18 who currently reside in Dubai.

All students who are coming from outside of the UAE must mail or e-mail Akmal Khan (khanak@msu.edu) the following docuements at least 15 days prior to student arrival in Dubai. The required forms include:

  • Student Entry Permit Form
    (Press "Print Form" and provide with the following docuements. Please type a dash (-) in any boxes intentionally left blank on the form.)
  • Student Enrollment Contract
  • Two (2) color passport quality photographs with white background. Size: 4.3 cm x 5.5cm.
  • Clean passport copy. The passport must have a validity of at least six (6) months.
  • Transcript copy
  • Copy of tuition fee receipt: Sponsorship is only available for full-time students who have paid all the relevant semester fees in full.
  • Proof of Sufficient funds (AED 30,000); A bank statement (must be an original letter on bank letterhead with official bank stamp) from student, parent/guardian, or sponsor's account showing minimum amount of AED 30,000. If the proof of funds is from a company/partners, then a letter indicating sponsorship willingness must be submitted.
  • Passport copy of student's father.

Once the entry permit is issued, MSU Dubai will e-mail  a copy of the entry permit and will deposit the original at the Dubai Airport on the day of the student's flight.

All international students seeking a residency visa in the UAE will be tested for communicable diseases including HIV/AIDS, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Hepatitis. For further information on government requirements, see http://www.moh.gov.ae.

Upon arrival in Dubai, the following documents should be submitted to Akmal Khan, located in Dubai International Academic City, Block 10, Ground Floor:

  • Student original passport and three (3) photocopies
  • The original Entry Permit and three (3) photocopies
  • Eight (8) color photographs

Visa fees are established by the government of Dubai and are beyond the control of Michigan State University. The current fees are listed below but are subject to change. In the case of an increase in the visa charges by the government authorities, the student will be liable to pay the additional visa charge(s). Visa fees, once paid, are non-refundable under any circumstances.
