Orientation & Opening Convocation
MSU Dubai New Student Orientation for 2009-2010 (formally referred to as 'Academic Orientation Program' or AOP) will occur in two sessions (students need to attend one of the two sessions, either A or B). Session A will be held on Wednesday, August 26th and Thursday, August 27th. Session B will be held on Sunday, August 30th and Monday, August 31st. All students, returning and new, will gather for the Opening Convocation at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009. Orientation sessions are held in the MSU Dubai Classroom Building, Block 10, DIAC.
Orientation and Welcome Week activities are designed to provide students with essential information for their success at MSU Dubai. Students work with an academic advisor to plan their course schedule and learn how to use academic support services such as the Academic Planner, Degree Navigator, and MSU STUINFO. In addition, students meet members of the faculty and learn about the academic policies of MSU including fulfilling university general and college-specific course requirements, course attendance and expectations, and academic integrity. The time spent together at the beginning of the term establishes a scholarly and civil environment for learning and provides a time to make friends with your classmates.

8:00 a.m. Special help session for those who need help with MSU Net I.D.’s or who wish to take the Proctored Math Placement Examination.
9:00 a.m. Welcome and Overview of Orientation

10:30 a.m. Student Class Photo. Parent Orientation Begins
11:30 a.m. Student Essential Information
1:15 p.m. Understanding your major requirements. Group advising.
3:15 p.m. Technological Tools to help you succeed.
