Construction Project Management | Program Description

Overview | Curriculum | Carrer Opportunities

The Bachelor's degree program in construction management at Michigan State University in Dubai is interesting, challenging and extremely rewarding. Our curriculum is focused on the business aspects of construction and development. Students receive the same solid base in the management basics required of industry and earn the same academic degree as those who study in East Lansing, Michigan.

The construction industry is a people business. To build a building takes "brick and mortar," but it takes people to put it all together; people with solid management skills. The management of this robust industry can be likened to that of an orchestra leader. They have to be knowledgeable about all the players' methods and equipment, along with possessing the people skills to get everyone playing in tune.

The most common players in construction project management are:

  • Excavators
  • Masons
  • Electricians
  • Carpenters
  • Steel Erectors and Workers

In addition, there are many other professional disciplines that a construction project manager interacts with on a daily basis:

  • Architects
  • Engineers
  • Surveyors
  • Bankers
  • Inspectors
  • Real Estate Brokers
  • Appraisers
  • Government Officials
  • Project Owners

All of these disciplines must work together as a team to complete a project on time and on budget. This is what our bachelor's degree program curriculum in construction management is all about - training highly skilled graduates to take on challenging careers that typically focus on site and project management, estimating, scheduling or land development. Many of our alumni have developed their own successful construction companies.
